Industry Advocacy

Creator and Guest Curator of “The Art of Video Games” - Smithsonian American Art Museum

Commissioned in 2009 by the Smithsonian American Art Museum to be the Guest Curator and creator of their first, landmark video game art exhibition (https://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/archive/2012/games).

  • Developed and curated a 6,000 square foot installation for the museum, focusing on 40 years of video games as an artistic medium.
  • Identified all assets, constructed narrative, compiled, and captured all text and media, assembled industry advisory group, coached museum staff, represented museum at industry events, press activities, and oversaw entirety of production.
  • 26,000+ people attended the exhibition during the opening weekend in March, 2012, with an additional 690,000 visitors attending the exhibition during its 6-month run, making it the second most successful exhibition in the history of the museum.
  • The exhibition traveled through 10 additional museums across the US through April, 2016, breaking multiple attendance records and resulting in an estimated total of 2.4 million visitors.
